Physical Activity Prevalence

The Asia-Pacific Physical Activity Network (AP-PAN) has produced a report on the prevalence and trends of physical activity participation in countries in the Asia Pacific region. This report is a systematic compilation of national physical activity levels, reported through representative population surveys, in Asia and Pacific nations. It is not a methodological review, as data are presented from diverse surveys and samples, even within a single country. The data are shown to inform decision and policy makers in the Asia-Pacific region interested in physical activity. Important implications include the need for standardised survey methods and questions, and repeating these to obtain accurate population trend information. Trend data can be used to assess the impact of population-level efforts and programs targeting physical activity.

This document is a ‘live document’, and will be regularly updated with new information of surveys from Asia and Pacific nations. The countries currently featured in the report include American  Samoa, Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China (PRC), Fiji, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federal States of Micronesia, Mongolia, Myanmar,  Nauru, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines,  Republic of Korea, Samoa, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Tokelau, Vietnam.

The report can be accessed in here as a PDF.
